Law and Criminology Workshops Autumn 2021

Description

Whatever your A level subjects, if you are a Year 12 or 13 pupil and are interested in studying or having a taste of Law or Criminology as university subjects, these sessions will be for you.

A series of six workshops short will be held weekly from 7.00-7.40pm every Wednesday starting on Wednesday 29 September 2021. Lecturers from various universities will run the sessions and will give a presentation and facilitate discussions for around 40 minutes on a particular legal or criminological theme. All presentations will be in Welsh, translation will not be provided for this event.

  • 29 September -' "You can't speak Welsh here!" Do you have a right to speak Welsh?' Professor Emyr Lewis, Head of the School of Law and Criminology, Aberystwyth University
  • 6 October - 'Killing is killing .... as simple as this? What is the main difference between Murder as an accusation and Manslaughter?' Cerys Davies, Swansea University
  • 13 October - 'The Right to Protest' Dr Huw Pritchard, Cardiff University
  • 3 November - 'The battle for Fairbourne - a study of environmental crime and its victims'  Dr Lowri Cunnington Wynn, Aberystwyth University
  • 10 November - 'Torture: Liability in negligence for injury to persons and damage to property' Holly Evans, University of South Wales
  • 17 November - 'Damaging Dead Bodies and the Law: The Case of the Reverend Emyr Owen' Dr Hayley Roberts, School of Law, Bangor University.
