Description

This workshop will be useful for anyone wishing to use fun online platforms in their teaching.  Through this resource, you will learn about different platforms to create varied and useful learning experiences for your students. 

In this resource, you will be introduced to the following platforms: 

  1. Kahoot 
  2. Padlet 
  3. Quizzizz 
  4. Quizlet 

Presenter: Dr Nia Cole Jones

Dr Nia Cole Jones is a senior lecturer with the Open University. She graduated with a first class degree in Welsh from Aberystwyth University, and went on to study an M.Phil and PhD on the development of the Welsh language in sport and the news. She has worked in higher education for over a decade, focusing on developing students' language skills across all levels.

Kahoot

Workshop objectives:
- Effective use of Kahoot digital tools
- Create Kahoot quizzes and play them
- Look for other relevant quizzes and be able to adapt them.

At the end of these workshops, trainees should be able to do the following:
- Create Kahoot quizzes independently
- Be confident in playing Kahoot quizzes in class or online
- Be confident to look for other quizzes and adapt them as necessary.

Padlet

Workshop objectives
- What is Padlet?
- Create a Padlet and share it
- Use Padlet effectively with your students.

At the end of this workshop, trainees should be able to do the following:
- Create Padlet independently
- Share Padlet with their students
- Use Padlet features to create a vibrant and interactive notice board.

Quizzizz

Objectives
- Learn how to create Quizzizz and share them
- Learn how to play Quizzizz in class and set them into homework
- Learn how to customize a quiz from another user
- View Quizzizz from the student's perspective.

At the end of this workshop, trainees should be able to:
- Create Quizzizz quizzes independently
- Play Quizzizz quizzes in class, online or set them into homework
- Share Quizzizz with their students
- Use Quizzizz features to create fun and useful quizzes for their students.

Quizlet

Objectives
- Learn how to create quizlet sets and share them
- Learn how to play Quizlet in class and set them into homework
- Learn how to customize flash cards from another user
- Use Quizlet to create various activities for your students.

At the end of this workshop, trainees should be able to:
- Create Quizlet sets independently
- Share sets with their students
- Use Quizlet features to create varied and useful learning experiences for their students.
