Reporting on.... Welsh Politics
Here is a collection of resources for budding journalists or anyone who would like to learn more about Welsh politics. It includes: An interactive website which is an introduction to Welsh politics. A video introducing the work of the Welsh Parliament. A video looking at the democratic deficit in Wales. A podcast discussing how to report on an election. These resources were developed by JOMEC, (The School of Journalism, Media and Culture, Cardiff University)
E-badges Guidance (Rewarding Welsh Skills)
Guidance: Using E-Badges as a method of recognising and rewarding Welsh language skills development. This guidance document was prepared by Pembrokeshire College and gives an insight into how they developed a badge award scheme to recognize the progression and development of learners' Welsh language skills. If you are interested in replicating this scheme at your college, an electronic copy of the resources (Moodle compatible) is available on request filling in the form below.
Reporting on...Covid-19
This is an interactive website, aimed at students of journalism which provides useful information on reporting Covid-19. It includes a guide on how the news is created during the pandemic and information on the demand for dependable news. It also sets out the responsibilities of the devolved Governments during the crisis. The resource also includes videos and a quiz.
Rheolaeth Busnes ar y Fferm ('Business Management on the Farm')
A digital resource produced by Tinopolis and Coleg Sir Gar. This resource gives students 'real' experience of completing tasks including: • Completing documentation to send cattle to slaughter or lambs to market • Completing VAT returns online • Managing various business management documents associated with running farm enterprises • Registering a new-born calf with CTS online • Preparing the farm with the necessary paperwork for a Farm Assurance visit. The content of the resource is particularly appropriate for farm animal and business management units at levels 2 and 3.
Business BTEC Level 3 Resources
Business Studies (L3): blended learning sessions 30 blended learning sessions for learners studying Business Studies courses (level 3). The units can be viewed in your browser by following the links below. Colleges can download a zip file containing SCORM files for all 30 units to place within their local virtual learning platforms. These sessions are bilingual, the English slides can be used as reference, but the questions can only be answered in Welsh. Staff from colleges that are members of the Blended Learning Consortium can access the original English versions on their website http://www.blc-fe.org/. This is a resource for prospective medical students on the Tomorrow’s Doctors 3 scheme. It covers topics like gaining work experience within health and care and what to include in the personal statement.
Myfyriwr Amaeth ('Agricultural Student')
24 video clips produced by Telesgop. They are 5 to 8 minutes long, and include vets, lecturers and experts discussing a particular principle or demonstrating a skill. They are ideal for some of the units taught as part of the Level 3 (BTEC and City & Builds) course , namely: • Sheep production • Beef production • Dairy production • Grassland Management • Agricultural engineering • Estate maintenance skills • Management of pigs and chickens • Health of farm animals The clips can be used to demonstrate a particular skill, leading to discussions in the classroom before completing a worksheet. Many of the clips give students a good grounding before they go out to practice the skill.
Gwasanaethu Trwy'r Gymraeg App
The aim of this app is to support learners and workers in the Public Services sector to use the Welsh language with the public. The vocabulary used within the app is compatible with the vocabulary that is included within the Pearson BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services specification. The app intoduces Welsh vocabulary and terms and contains audio clips to help users with pronunciation, along with interactive quizzes to test users' new knowledge.

Aimed at students of journalism, it includes a guide to writing for newspapers, radio, television, online and for social media. The resource also includes an introduction to the rules and regulations that influence editorial decisions. It includes videos, quizes and online exercises.
